Great Riches vs Great Reputation.

Sunday, 22nd August 2010.

Hollywood culture fascinates me. Everyday, the media is filled with the latest news of the rich and famous… and society laps it up. However, it’s interesting to think about what we actually remember about many celebrities. Despite their wealth, clothing, cars, homes and fame, we tend to remember the scandals they were involved in, their bad behaviour, their lack of integrity in decisions.

No matter how amazingly talented you are, it will all fall apart if your character is corrupt. Your reputation holds more weight than what you have or what you can do.

Proverbs 22:1 (NLT) says– Choose a good reputation over great riches, for being held in high esteem is better than having silver or gold. The Bible teaches us that who we are is far more important than what we have or what we do. People are more impacted by our words and actions than our latest outfit or hairstyle.

A Girl of Wisdom places more value on her character than on worldy possessions- because at the end of the day, people will remember your reputation, not your riches. How do you want people to remember you? The answer is found in your character, which shapes your reputation. And a great reputation is far more valuable than great riches.
