“I need your advice…”

Wednesday 8th September 2010

We all need advice at one time or another. And how wonderful it is to have good friends who give wise advice! Hopefully, your friends can also trust your wisdom when they’re going through a difficult situation.

Proverbs 8:8 tells us that wise advice is wholesome and good. There is nothing crooked or twisted in it.

It’s important to be aware of your own emotions and opinions when giving someone else advice. Sometimes, without even realising it, our words of advice are tainted by our own feelings, agendas and points of view. What would be the best solution for ourselves isn’t necessarily the best solution for someone else.

A Girl of Wisdom carefully listens to her friend’s thoughts and emotions and puts herself in their shoes first before giving advice. She thinks about what’s best for that person, not what would be best for herself.

Something to think about the next time your friend says, “I need your advice…”
