She loves to learn.

Saturday 9 October 2010

As a teacher, I am sometimes met with groans when I announce, “Today we are learning something new!” For some reason, “learning” has developed a negative connotation amongst teenagers. Probably because at this stage in life, learning is associated with school, teachers, homework and exams. I totally get it!

However, I’d like to suggest that learning can be something beyond school, teachers, homework and exams- really! Learning can happen at any time, in any place and with any person. We learn about ourselves and life through our family, friendships and experiences.

Proverbs 9:9 (NLT) says, Teach the wise, and they will be wiser. Teach the righteous and they will learn more.

A Girl of Wisdom loves to learn. She doesn’t just think that learning is about writing essays, solving maths equations and studying for a science exam. She knows those things are important, but she also wants to learn about herself- who she is and what her purpose is. She wants to learn from the lives of others- their successes and their mistakes. And she wants to learn about God- His unconditional love for her and the plans He has for her precious life.

Choose to think about “learning” in a positive way. Life is your universal classroom and God is your perfect Teacher. Ask Him to teach you all the lessons you need to live your life beautifully.
