What are you searching for?

Thursday 6 January 2011.

Proverbs 2:4-5 (NLT) says, “Search for wisdom and understanding as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.”

Everyone is searching for something. It might be love, approval, friendship, money, popularity or the next best thing. Searching for anything requires time, patience, work and determination.

This proverb encourages us to search for God and His wisdom above all else. So what does this mean?

Firstly, it means making a decision to follow Jesus and surrender your will and way to Him.

Secondly, wisdom is found all throughout the Bible. Spend time reading and thinking about what is written in this book and ask God to help you understand and apply it.

Finally, searching for wisdom is proactive. It’s a journey that requires being obedient to where God is leading you.

Pause and reflect for a moment and ask yourself, “What am I searching for?” I encourage you to either start or continue the life-long journey of searching for God’s wisdom in order to be a Girl of Wisdom!
