Medicine for the soul.

Thursday 24th May 2012

A lot of emphasis is placed on taking care of our bodies. Exercise, a balanced diet and enough sleep all help in creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

However, in a society that often focuses purely on our physical health and appearance, we can sometimes forget about the health of our minds and emotions and the impact this can have on us physically.

Proverbs 17:22 (ESV) says, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

So how do we have a joyful heart? I believe a joyful heart is the result of a thankful heart- giving thanks in all things… Finding the beauty in every moment- in the mundane, the seemingly insignificant daily grind and the magnificent.

As we consciously remind ourselves of how much we have to be thankful for, gratefulness and thanksgiving provide a fresh pespective on our circumstances and how we feel. A heavy heart turns into a joyful heart, which fills us with strength, courage and peace.

A Girl of Wisdom understands the supernatural power of giving thanks. Indeed, it is medicine for the soul.
