Time for a soul stock take.

Tuesday 26th June 2012

As we approach the end of yet another financial year, many of us, as individuals and as part of businesses and organisations, will be busy taking stock of our finances over the past twelve months.

But how often do we take the time to take stock of our own souls? Our thoughts, emotions, memories, dreams, regrets?

Proverbs3:13-14 (ESV) says, “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.”

These verses tell us that attaining wisdom and understanding is more beneficial than attaining material wealth. And one way to grow in wisdom and understanding is to take the time to reflect on your life. Here’s some questions to get you started on taking stock of your soul-

  • What areas of my life are going well?
  • What areas of my life are not going well? Is there anything I can do to improve this?
  • Do I feel happy about who I am and where my life is going?
  • Are there any unresolved issues or conflicts with others that need to be addressed? Do I need to make the first step? What will that step be?

A Girl of Wisdom takes care of the condition of her soul just as much as she takes care of the state of her finances. She takes time out to pause, think and reflect on the person she is and how her life is going. How about you?
