How are things with your family?

Wednesday 11 April 2012

Everyone has parents. I remember when I was at school thinking about the many differences in families and parenting styles. Some friends were known as being part of the “fun” families, others the “strict” while still more were from the “single-parent” families. What kind of family do you have?

Proverbs 10:1 (NLT) says, “A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.”

Each of us brings something to our families, regardless of the type of family we are in. We can bring thoughtfulness, kindness, generosity and hands that are willing to help, to name a few.

On the other hand, we can also bring selfishness, destructive words, laziness and bad attitudes. So what do you bring to your family?

I encourage you today to ask yourself the question, “How are things with my family?” There are always two sides to any relationship, however, what are you contributing from your end? And does it need to change?

A Girl of Wisdom desires to bring joy to her family. She is purposeful in her words and actions towards her parents and family members and demonstrates love and respect for them in all she does.
